Throw-ins

ATT - Throw-in

A throw-in is like any other pass during the game, and as such, make the best decision possible when putting the ball back into play from a throw-in.

If in doubt, throw the ball forward down the sideline to a teammate.

ATT - Throw-in #1

  1. Two players (#7 and #9) start alongside one another on the line of the 18-yard box, with a supporting player (#8) drawing another defender away.
  2. On the signal, the #7 and  #9 switch roles,
  3. With the #9 setting a screen to prevent the marker of #7 from tracking the run.
  4. The ball is then thrown towards the goal line, for the #7 to cross the ball into the players already in the box to finish on goal.

ATT - Throw-in #2

  1. Players are set-up in similar starting positions to the previous routine with #7 and #9 starting alongside one another on the line of the 18-yard box, and a supporting player (#8) drawing another defender away.

ATT - Throw-in #3

  2. This time, on the signal, the #7 and #9 spin off on their outside shoulders and the ball is thrown towards the #10, who then combines with,
  3. The #7 to cross the ball into the players in the box to finish on goal.

ATT - Throw-in #4

  1. Again, player are set-up in the similar way they were for the first routines, but this time the timing of the movements are different.
  2. On the signal, the #7 and #9 move diagonally in different directions,
  3. With the #9 checking back for a second movement and setting a screen for #7.
  4. Again, the screen enables #7 to get to the goal line without an opponent and cross the ball into the

ATT - Throw-in #5

  1. This hybrid set-up involves three players, who are set-up in staggered starting spots with #10 at the edge of the box,
  2. #9 closer to the edge of the 6-yard box, and
  3. #7 in the traditional starting spot.
  4. On the signal, the #10 moves towards the ball and
  5. The #9 and #7 switch positions, with the #9 setting a screen in the process.
  6. Again, the screen enables #7 to get to the goal line without an opponent and cross the ball into the players in the box to finish on goal.

ATT - Throw-in #6

  1. Payers are set-up in the similar way they were for the first routines, but the #7 and #9 are a little closer.
  2. This time, on the signal, the #7 and #9 spin off on their outside shoulders, the ball is thrown towards the #9, and
  3. The thrower (#2) continues their run into the space.
  4. The #9 then combines with the oncoming #2, who then crosses the ball towards the players in the box to finish on goal.
